General Assembly Debates Global Health Challenges, Report of Youth Office, Takes Action on Drafts on Several Topics

The General Assembly debates the report, transmitted in a Secretary-General note (document A/79/915), on improving international cooperation and multilateral efforts to address global health challenges and promote equity in health for the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, prepared by the World Health Organization (WHO), pursuant to Assembly resolution 78/280, as well as discusses the Secretary-General’s report on the United Nations Youth Office (document A/79/986).

It will also take action on the following draft resolutions and decisions:  Sevilla Commitment (document A/79/L.109); Participation of non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions and the private sector in the “World Social Summit" under the title "the second World Summit for Social Development” (document A/79/L.115) and a related amendment to it (document A/79/L.120) and Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia — residual functions (document A/79/L.116/Rev.1).

Other drafts for action include:  Question of equitable representation on and increase in the membership of the Security Council and other matters related to the Security Council (in the form of an oral draft decision); Terms of Reference and Modalities for the Establishment and Functioning of the Independent International Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence and the Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence Governance (document A/79/L.118); and Cooperation between the United Nations and the Commonwealth of Independent States (document A/79/L.114).
