Philippine president supports call for ceasefire between conflicted countries in Middle East

MANILA, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos on Tuesday expressed his support for calls urging a ceasefire among countries involved in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Speaking at a briefing, Marcos said while the Philippines is not in a position to formally call for a ceasefire, the country remains optimistic about a prompt and peaceful resolution to the crisis.

Marcos noted that while the Philippines' involvement is only tangential, it remains deeply concerning due to the presence of Filipinos in the conflict areas.
