Philippines targets high-quality employment opportunities

MANILA, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Job creation remains the Philippine government's top priority as it aims to generate more high-quality employment opportunities, according to an announcement by the country's Department of Finance on Sunday.

Philippine Finance Secretary Frederick Go identified the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, and renewable energy as key sectors expected to drive the next wave of job creation.

Go noted that the BPO industry is shifting toward higher-value services, such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and IT-enabled services. He said the continued expansion in the semiconductor and electronics sectors has increased investment and created jobs in advanced manufacturing.

He also highlighted renewable energy as a major driver of employment, citing growing investments in wind, solar, and geothermal power that tap the country's natural advantages.
