MANILA, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed in a house fire in northern Philippines early Monday, said local authorities.

The fire broke out in the kitchen of a house in the city of Urdaneta, Pangasinan province. Then the blaze rapidly spread and trapped the victims, said the city's Bureau of Fire Protection.

The victims were three males and three females, including two 11-year-old girls. Two houses were destroyed.

The fire was declared out at 4:49 a.m. local time. Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
